Baptism at St Matthews.
Sometimes known as Christening, baptism marks the start of a new relationship with God as a member of His church. It’s one of the most important sacraments in the Anglican Church
Many people choose to baptize their children as babies, while others wait until later in life to make their baptismal vows. These vows show a commitment to live life according to God’s guidance.
The act of baptism – carried out in church with water, oil and candles – is the outward sign of the invisible work that God carries out in our lives when we first commit to Him. It’s a serious commitment – but also a generous gift.
If you – or a child – would like to be baptised at St Matthews, please contact the parish office to find out more details. A period of preparation is required.
“And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away calling on His name.” Acts 22:16
